The modern alphabet came from the Greek words Alpha and Beta. Telephone came from the words far off and the word voice (tel and phone). The Greek's also started historical writing. The modern historians use Greece's techniques to research history. They use the techniques of Herodotus and Thucydides. Herodotus is known as the "father of history".

Greeks used a different government than other places, they used a democracy. In a democracy, "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives (Google Definitions). The idea of democracy was a good idea, and it is still being used today in the US, and in other countries also.

Hippocrates, a man who changed the way that people think of health and illness. He believed that sicknesses had natural causes, instead of blaming it on the gods. In hospitals, doctors, and nurses have to take the Hippocratic Oath, stating that they must preserve the patients life, and there information. Hippocrates was called "the father of modern medicine".
